Spread
A slow first step pushes the liquid out to the edge, so the whole surface is wet before thinning starts.

Spin off
At full speed most of the liquid leaves over the edge. The 750 accelerates at up to 12,000 rpm per second, so it reaches spin speed almost at once.

Evaporate
Solvent leaves and the film sets. Its final thickness depends mostly on spin speed, which you set for each step, from 1 to 12,000 rpm.
